The evanescent wolf of Font-de-Gaume

Dominating a richly decorated section of the cave, at a topographical crossroads, the wolf of Font-de-Gaume is paradoxically one of the cave’s most mysterious figures. Situated high up, it is barely perceptible today. The only things that stand out are two small pointed ears and a fairly generic head, which is difficult to attribute to a specific animal species. The rest of the body is almost completely covered in calcite.
