At the Hârsova tell, the Gumelnita earthen dwellings, over the course of time, began to favor particular orientations, more or less along the cardinal points with slight angular variations. What's more, in the majority of cases, almost identical locations were used to rebuild dwellings. This consistent building and rebuilding within a very constrained location over a long period of time has already been observed in other Chacolithic sites in Romania and Bulgaria.

This is clearly the sign of a rigorous organization and management of a living space according predetermined plan, and witnesses to a possible process of urbanization.
