Micromorphology : microphotographic image from a polarizing optical microscope, of a thin slice of sediment showing layers of earth and calcified vegetation. (35X)

Sedimentary Micromorphology is one of the earth sciences remarkably suited to the exploration of a stratiphied site like the Hârsova tell. It contributes directly to a precise interpretation of the function of various inhabited areas, and contributes to the reconstruction of human activities.

To determine the origin of the stones used in tool-making, the science of petrography is applied. These studies already make it possible to determine various geological sources of stones, more or less at distant from the site, sought by the inhabitants of the Hârsova tell for the making of axes, grinding stones and common flint tools.
