The Aisne valley was a major vector for trade, demonstrated by the large quantities of shards of amphorae from the Republic found by chance at the oppidum of "Nandin" and in the valley below. It was probably from there that the inhabitants of Acy-Romance bought their wine. Bronze containers and cooking pots imported from Aylesford have been found in large numbers in the valley burial sites. The coins found at the Château-Porcien oppidum include a number of foreign examples, illustrating the vitality of commerce and trade from 80 BC, the period when Acy-Romance began to decline. The melted remains of bronze cooking pots, the only evidence of this activity, apart from a few amphorae, have been found in two tombs at La Noue Mauroy.
