Acy-Romance

A few kilometres from Reims, capital of the Remi tribe, aerial photographs revealed traces of the Gallic village of Acy-Romance. This discovery led to a meticulous investigation of the site lasting almost twenty years. The team of volunteer archaeologists in charge of the project studied, excavated, analysed and observed every nook and cranny of this little town, a genuine vestige of Gallic life in the Ardennes with its "quarters", its large square, its sacrificial sites… What they found was a long way indeed from the image created by school textbooks or the famous cartoons.
