The excavations at Acy-Romance have led to a complete reassessment of the coinage used by the Remi tribe. By about 130/120 BC, the first coin series made of an alloy of copper, lead and tin, known as "potin", were already in circulation. One of these series depicts a small naked figure, with his hair in a long plait, running to the left, holding a spear in his left hand and a torc (necklace) in his right. The same figure is found again in a later series, in a seated position, holding his plaits and a torc in his right hand. A third series shows a bucranium (an ox skull seen from the front). These coins were cast in strips in clay moulds. The mould was broken to extract them, which explains the absence of any archaeological remains.
