Mammoth Panel

At the entrance to the gallery, on the left-hand wall, this decorated panel shows successive phases of events as on the Megaloceros Panel opposite. After two head-to-tail mammoths drawn in charcoal, bears occupied the cave (clawmarks), and finally people returned to engrave a mammoth and a spray-shaped sign. The final phase consists of a complete rhinoceros figure with a ventral stripe and a line depicting the back and ears of the same animal facing the other way.
