The centre of the chamber is occupied by a subsidence 10 m in diameter and 2 m deep, which transports the deposits to a lower network. The collapse, which has cut a stalagmite floor dated to around 7000 years ago, post-dates the passage of people in the cave. One of the pendants, engraved with an owl, is therefore now suspended over the void. The sections revealed show deposits pre-dating and contemporary with the Aurignacian use of the cave, which have allowed a reconstruction of this sector in the Palaeolithic period.
