Movement in the first part of the Rouzaud Gallery is straightforward. The powdery floor is here covered with the bones of bears and includes one of the best bear hollows in the cave. The gallery then continues in a low passage around 10 m in length, with a width varying from 1.5 to 4 m. Here, the floor is a succession of gours covered in a magnificent red/orange calcite. Incoming water makes this the most frequently flooded area in the cave.
