Located to the north of the Chamber of the Bear Hollows, the Panther Panel is situated on a thick blade of rock descending from the roof of the cave. The surface has a number of concavities which have significantly influenced the design of the figures, all in red. The Panther Panel depicts only around ten animals. Bears dominate, followed by felines and an ibex. The presence of the panther is the primary original feature, as this is the only representative of its species in the cave and even in European Palaeolithic art.
