The Panel of the Large Engraved Horse is 6 m long; there are engravings and finger traces in a manual field that corresponds to the present floor level. All of the execution stigmata are apparent. Both the altered limestone and the clay film that covers it have been exploited, giving a brown coat to the animals.
This panel is complex, with numerous overlaps between the drawings. Destruction by scraping and the addition of simplified mammoths have disrupted a relatively simple original composition. The first animals are turned to the left; a stallion is framed on the right by two mammoths sharing the line of the stomach, and on the left by a pair of bison and two other pachyderms.
