Large Lion Panel

The right-hand part of the large panel is the most spectacular in the entire cave. A complete scene occupies the majority of the panel; a group of both male and female lions is hunting four bison which occupy the left-hand part of the panel, in contact with the four bison heads in a column. A small rhinoceros has been drawn at the bottom of this scene. In places, the wall has been prepared by scraping areas in line with the subject being drawn, often with a cut-out outline. The repetition of conventions and techniques, together with the unified appearance of the scene, indicate that this panel was produced in a short time.
