The large compositions constitute one of the unusual features of the cave. Starting from the Panel of Hand Prints, red figures are grouped according to themed relationships, like the frieze of four rhinoceros which follow each other on a narrow cornice. On the right of the panel, felines appear to track herbivores (horse, mammoth and above all rhinoceros).

Another hunt, considerably more spectacular, is visible on the Lion Panel in the End Chamber. There, black and engraved lions are depicted in dynamic positions, staring at and pursuing a herd of bison which is fleeing towards the left. The pictorial composition tells a story: the gaze of the predators guides that of the spectator towards the prey; the bison jostle towards the left, turning towards the centre of the chamber. Their heads, seen from straight on, align vertically along the edge of the panel.

In the sector of the Horses, the black paint compositions are also based on the conflict between feline and herbivore, as in the Alcove of the Lions where the horses attempt to escape from a pair of felines. On the Panel of the Horses, the hunt is not the central subject. Studying the superimposition of the figures shows a succession of species represented: first the rhinoceros, then the aurochs and finally the four horses positioned in the centre of the panel, in a space set aside for them.
