Liver for divination

Omen of imprisonment
9336

Animal livers were used for divination in Mesopotamia. Clay models such as this one represented specific liver shapes, with the meaning written alongside it in cuneiform script. This example, dating from the 19th-18th centuries BCE,  is an omen of imprisonment.
