Baking moulds in situ from the collapsed floor above Room 77.
They were uncovered towards the top of the destruction layer, about 4.50 m thick, in the stairwell section of Area 77. Together with the plaster floor plaques, they are among the most convincing evidence of an upper floor through which people walked to the royal apartments located on the other side of the official sector M. These terracotta moulds, with geometric, animal or anthropomorphic decorations (ø approximately 28 cm, L. between 20 cm and 30 cm), were most probably intended to bake bread or cakes.
