The central space 31 of Area I of the House of Women was named the "blue court" because of the colour of the double twisted band which extended on either side of a recess at a height of 1.80 metre from the ground. The strong black border contrasted sharply with the milk-of-lime wall covering. The edge of the plaster plinth was highlighted with a line of black paint.
