The glossed blades of City I were generally attached with bitumen, remains of which are still found on the edge opposite the side polished by use. Probably intended as sickle blades, these artefacts were segments of large, regular imported blades (Canaanite blades) or local imitations of lesser workmanship which may take the form of irregular cores or convergent flakes, most often cut by direct percussion.
