Sickle blades from City I

Sickle blades from City I
6531

A major lithic corpus was discovered at the Pec site, under theSacred Enclosure of City II. It consisted of sections of glossed blades used as sickle blades for harvesting cereals. In the stratigraphic sequence of this area of the tell, local debitage produced by direct percussion follows on from the extra-regional calibrated blades, produced using the lever-pressure technique or, more rarely, indirect percussion. They attest to the persistence of this model until the end of City I, despite the temporary interruption of long-distance traffic from the Middle Euphrates and Al-Jazira.
