In 1974, in a secondary deposit in Spaces 3, 5 and 6 of the “Temple-manufacturing” area of City II, André Parrot discovered evidence of an official craft industry, most probably under the control of the royal and religious authorities. The functional analysis of the flint artefacts and the discovery of a small number of associated shell fragments suggest this was a specialist workshop intended for the manufacture of precision tools for mother-of-pearl engraving and the making of historiated panels.
