This watercolour drawing of a fibula was produced by the curator of the musée d'Annecy, Louis Revon, in the 1860s. This correspondent of the Commission de Topographie des Gaules (CTG) developed a technique for accurately reproducing the appearance of archaeological objects. For example, here, the surface of the bronze is particularly well rendered. The drawing is accompanied by precise details about where the item was discovered, as was required by the CTG.
