This postcard from the late 19^th century shows one of the museum’s ground-floor rooms. On display are reconstructions of Roman war machines produced by Verchère de Reffye in the 1860s. In the foreground we can see a large ballista and around it there are small-scale models in display cases. The display cases were designed by Eugène Millet.
