Photograph of arms found at Alise-Sainte-Reine

Photographie des différentes armes retrouvées à Alise-Sainte-Reine
7802

This old photographic print is taken from a glass plate made following the restoration of arms discovered during Napoleon III’s excavations at Alise-Sainte-Reine. The objects, fixed on large boards, were photographed on their arrival at the musée gallo-romain in 1864. There are several glass plates and old prints which show us the condition of archaeological objects and the quality of their restoration, led by Abel Maître in the workshops at Meudon. The prints are collected together in the Albums blancs, conserved at the musée d'Archéologie nationale.
