In 1879, the musée gallo-romain opened rooms dedicated to epigraphy. Their displays showed different aspects of Gallo-Roman civilisation. This postcard from the late 19th century shows room 22, dedicated to Gallic dress and trades. On the right is a specially designed case which allowed the museum to display plates containing inscriptions.
