This engraving by Fortuné Méaulle was published in Le Magasin pittoresque on 31 October 1883. It shows how the château’s ballroom had been adapted to house collections of comparative archaeology. On top of the central display case can be seen the lurs that were given by Frederick VII, King of Denmark, to Napoleon III in 1861. The musée gallo-romain was now named the musée des Antiquités nationales.
