This is the very first page of all of Creuly’s notebooks. It lists the contents of book 1. We can see that the first date indicated for copies is 1855, nearly three years before the creation of the Commission de Topographie des Gaules (CTG). The first journeys he reported making were in 1857, one year before the CTG began its work and two years before Creuly joined the commission. The list of towns shows the extent of the scholar’s travels across France, from Cherbourg and Autun, to Toulouse and Avignon.
