Official bird’s eye view of the 1867 universal exhibition, drawn and lithographed by Eugène Cicéri and Philippe Benoist.
The 1867 universal exhibition, also known as the “Exposition universelle d'art et d'industrie”, was the seventh universal exhibition and the second to take place in Paris, following that of 1855. It took place from 1 April to 3 November 1867 on the Champ-de-Mars in Paris, with 41 countries represented. It marked the apogee of the Second Empire. It was during the exhibition that Napoleon III officially opened the musée gallo-romain.
