Alésia, by Claude Rossignol, 1856


In August 1856, in Alise – Études sur une campagne de Jules César, Claude Rossignol, archivist in the Côte-d'Or region, recommended going back to The Conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar and carrying out a thorough topographical study: “We only want to follow Caesar with Caesar.” In his opinion, Alesia was located at Alise-Sainte-Reine.
