Estampage of an inscription from Lectoure

7755

This inscription from Lectoure is one of a series copied from 20 taurobolium altars. It includes the name of Pompeia Flora, the woman who provided the sacrifice. Here, a reproduction of the stone has been made on purple paper using estampage. There are several examples of estampages on purple paper in the archive collection of the musée de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. They have probably been sent by the same correspondent (unfortunately unknown), responsible for the region of Lectoure, in Gallia Aquitania.
