This plate, taken from Album noir no. 11, is dedicated to the excavations carried out by René de Kerviler, an engineer and former student of the École Polytechnique, and a bibliographer and archaeologist. He was president of the Société de géographie de Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) and named correspondent of the Commission de Topographie des Gaules (CTG) in August 1874. While leading work on the development of the port in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), he made precise notes of his archaeological discoveries and sent his reports to the CTG.
