Pierced stick discovered by Paul Girod and Elie Massénat during excavations of the Magdalenian layers from the classic Laugerie-Basse shelter at Eyzies-de-Tayac (Dordogne).

It was sculpted in the round using reindeer antler. It is broken at the perforation, on either side of which are depicted two bison back-to-back. The difference in size between the animals has been interpreted as the representation of a male and female.

A cast of this object is displayed in the Palaeolithic Gallery of the National Archaeology Museum - Domaine national de Saint-Germain-en-Laye (MAN 53 765). Length = 12.8 cm; Width = 7.7 cm; Thickness = 3 cm. MAN 53 765
