Otherwise known as the Salon Noir. The Niaux Cave (Cariège, Pyrénées) is nearly 2km long and contains some one hundred depictions, including the set in the Salon Noir. Dated to the Magdalenian 13000/15000 years BP, it was discovered in 1906 and researched by the two most renowned prehistorians of the period, Emile Cartailhac and the Abbé Breuil, who discovered the majority of the drawings
