Pipe sherds (Saint-Paul, Cap Champagne)

Pipe sherds (Saint-Paul, Cap Champagne)
3066

Kaolin pipes were a very common sight in the settlements between the 17th and 19th centuries, and they were mass produced in Europe during the 19th century. The sherds discovered at Cap Champagne in 2016 come from a short and popular type of pipe with a flared bowl and prominent spur. Although devoid of decoration or a manufacturer’s mark, it is still possible to date them to the 19th century.
