Postcard, 1920s

This was the colony’s most prestigious boarding school for girls. It was planned as early as 1855 and run by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny. When it opened, the school provided boarders and day boarders with a primary and then a secondary education, with a full curriculum only provided after the island became a département.
