The field mission in 2020, which did not alter the site, was part of a project to understand, conserve and present the remains for heritage, cultural, educational and tourism purposes. The knowledge acquired by a multidisciplinary team composed of a historian, archaeologists, a building survey specialist, a topographer and photogrammetrist, and an archaeobotanist will lay the scientific foundations for plans to increase public access and understanding of the site. The Département de La Réunion is assisted by the DAC de La Réunion as scientific partner, with funding from FEADER. Inrap commissioned the département to produce the studies.
