This hiking path, which led past the Caverne des Lataniers, was traced by regular expeditions in the 19th century and its route published by G. Manès in 1913 in his guide La Réunion : sanatoria, tourisme : livret-guide illustré (Réunion: sanatoria and tourist sites: an illustrated guide book).
