In the wake of a cyclone, an emergency rescue operation was mounted in 2007 to conserve skeletons revealed by coastal erosion, close to the Marin cemetery. The first large-scale operation planned in Réunion, in 2011, studied the forgotten graves of individuals buried outside the cemetery walls.
