Nouvelle Entrée Ouest (NEO) construction project will involve the complete redevelopment of the Saint-Denis coastline. Rescue archaeology operations are being carried out prior to the start of this ambitious project. The first phase of the evaluation was carried out in 2017 and led to the rescue excavation of the Place du Général de Gaulle. The second phase ended in October 2020 and revealed the remains of the Port du Barachois.
