The many analogies that have been drawn, in terms of both general morphology and of anatomical detail demonstrate the very great cohesion of the group of female aurochs in this gallery.
The gaze is drawn to the double dorsal line: the upper edge of the solid red plane of the body is accompanied a second back line, a repentir painted with a brush. The curvature of the line, reproducing that of the hindquarters, starts well before the where the tail joins the body. The precedence of this line leads us to think that this extremity was not placed far back enough, and thus the dimensions of the animal, in its horizontal component, were reduced in too condensed a manner. The second intervention, via painting, softens this distortion by extending the general shape of the cow's silhouette. This is one of the rare examples of anamorphosis in a parietal work. It reveals a desire for excellence of the finished work.
