This photograph shows a group of artefacts known as the “treasury vase". The central vase, 51 cm high, was discovered by Jacques de Morgan during excavations of the Acropolis tell. This vase was covered with a bowl lid, and contained a set of rare and heterogeneous objects: alabaster vases, metal objects (vessels and weapons), gold and silver rings, and cylinder seals. This group may date to the middle of the 3rd millennium BCE. The treasure was most probably buried by its owner and never recovered.
