Sometimes hearths were completely covered with stones and had a large surface area (seen here in structure P15). Sometimes they were dug in a pit and surrounded by a stone border (as seen in the hearths in structures A17 and D71-1). Sometimes the layout was more basic, with just some loose stones surrounding a flat, level space for the fire (the hearth in structure Q31).
