These examples were collected in fossil deposits in the Paris Basin, 40-80 km from Étiolles. The curved, tubular shells are tusk shells. Late Magdalenian societies generally liked these shells, which they almost always shortened and placed inside one another, as shown here by a pair found fitted together.
