Red figures have been deliberately erased, and the surface prepared by vigorous smoothing, before these heads were drawn in charcoal. They use the same style as the black drawings in the Chauvet-Pont d’Arc cave. The outline is regular, drawn without hesitation, and it is filled in by stump-drawing. The whiskers have been drawn.
