This tablet dates from the 1^st millennium BCE and was found in the palace at Nineveh. It is part of a group of texts called "The Library of Ashurbanipal". This Assyrian king collected and copied the greatest literary and scholarly works of Mesopotamia. Thecreation epic is however an older text, which would have been written during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar I. This mythological text recounts the creation of the world and provides an explanation for the god Marduk’s place at the head of the pantheon.
